5 More Tools You Need to Spy on Your Competition

In our post entitled 5 Tools to Help You Monitor and Learn From Your Competitors, we provided a list of tools to help you keep an eye on your competitors’ marketing efforts in order to better learn from them. As we made clear in that post, whether they’re outperforming you or making unnecessary mistakes, there are tools out there to help you make note of this information so you can discover ways to improve your own marketing efforts. In the year and three months or so since that first post, we’ve come across more tools we thought might be useful.

  1. Alexa. Alexa’s useful competitive intelligence tools allow you to monitor other sites as a means to “benchmark your site against your competitors to know where you stand and close the gap.” Alexa offers two plans. The Insight plan is $49 a month and the Advanced plan $149. There is a free 7-day trial for both plans.

  2. Fanpage Karma. Fanpage Karma lets you keep track of your competitors’ social media activity and keep up on which topics are trending within your target market and which topics are falling flat. Fanpage Karma offers many plans with a variety of pricing options.

  3. Brand24. Use this practical tool to find out what your target market is saying about your brand as well as that of the competition. Apart from a 14-day free trial, Brand24’s pricing plans vary from $49 to $399 a month.

  4. Ahrefs. Offering a variety of features that include competitive analysis, rank tracking and web monitoring, Ahrefs is a valuable ally in this arena. There are four different plans that range in price from $99 to $999. Two of the plans have free trial periods.

  5. SpyFu. Find out what keywords others in your industry are using while taking advantage of Spyfu’s user-friendly design and features. There are six different plan options that range from $33 to $299 a month.
